This is a second version of a scene I painted a while ago. This painting, I think, is more colorful than the earlier piece and shows more of the village life near the High Falls. The dogs and the deer are still running, the goats and chickens still pick away but there’s more village life to see in the little houses and the wonderful Mercantile. And that red red road! It even surprises me to see it. That red road along with the curve of the Rondout Creek remind me of a board game. There are beautiful trees and an abandoned shack. Ferns and flowering things along the creek are a perfect hideout for little foxes. There are lots of them at the Falls. And then there are the magnificent vultures. Three sit in a tree. Waiting.
Thank you to all of you patient souls who are still out there waiting for me to get back to things. I lost my husband in June and have been away from my work until now. This piece was nearly finished and it sat for some months until recently but I’m pleased with the result. I hope you like it.
